One of the performances taking place across the festival site at this year’s Whitegold Festival – coming this Saturday (Sept 29) – is SpinDrift Dance Company’s Clay Walks.
Clay Walks will be pop up performances at Whitegold festival. Originally made for Wheal Martyn, these extracts of dance, poetry, storytelling and music celebrates Clay Country’s past present and future. Interweaving the poetry of Jack Clemo, folk stories, live Cornish folk music with dance theatre, you can follow the performers chapter upon chapter. Asthey appear and disappear among the festival, you will meet Balmaiden, Clay Men, ghosts from Jack Clemo’s world and souls from Jim Causley’s songs.
SpinDrift was made in collaboration with local people at Wheal Martyn Clay Works. Read more about it on SpinDrift’s website. During the Festival the company will performance sections of the piece designed specially for St Austell’s town centre.
